The black drum bite fired up this past week and the fish were big and hungry!
Most of the drum we found were schooling in deep water, but on calm sunny days Captain Justin and I were able to track them as they moved across the lagoon. We cast live shrimp on small 1/4 ounce Saltwater Assassin jig head to these fish. When they would see the shrimp they would pound them and the fight was on! This doesn’t happen all of the time, but on our calmer winter and early spring days between cold fronts we can often find these fish for our customers and as you can see by the pictures- they are a handful.
