Fishing Forecast For September 2025

By August 29, 2025No Comments

IT’S TIME!!!!!!

That’s right—it’s time for the start of the Fall Mullet Run along Florida’s Space Coast.

Just about every species of coastal saltwater sport fish will be in play for anglers fishing outside the Port Canaveral basins this month. Snook season opens on September 1st, so all those giant snook my charter clients have been catching all summer long can now potentially be invited home for dinner—if they fit within the slot limit.

Tarpon, redfish, king mackerel, and sharks are a few of the other apex predators you can count on this month. Each of these species will strike live mullet in and around the bait pods migrating south along the beaches during the day. At dawn and dusk, they’ll also hit lures that imitate mullet.

Two of my go-to lures are the Rapala X-Rap 12 and the Saltwater Assassin Artemis Shad in silver mullet or pilchard color patterns.

This month and next are, without question, the best two months of the year to get out and go catching. And don’t sleep on the afternoons—some days they’re just as productive as the mornings.
